As the band from Eisenhower Junior High School in Darien continued playing the “Star-Spangled Banner,” Andrew barely missed a beat. This kid's face and reaction is priceless!

Boise State girl tearin' it up on the cowbell!
My New Years Resolution has been to post more frequently to Percussion and Drum Stuff this year, especially more drumline sheet music and funny band videos. And speaking of drum videos, embedded below is one that is recently trending from the college football bowl season.
I guess on the cowbell enthusiasm-meter, you've got Will Ferrell on one end, and this girl on the other

Blue Devils Win DCI World Championships
The Blue Devils drum and Bugle Corp won their 15th Drum Corp International (DCI) World Championship on Saturday (and fourth in the last six years). The Blue Devils drumline won the top overall percussion score behind one of the best lines I've ever seen.
Carolina Crown placed second (drumline 6th) while Phantom Regiment got third and the Cadets wound up in fourth place.
Five special awards were presented during the DCI World Championships awards ceremony, each averaged after combining the scores from Prelims, Semifinals and Finals. The George Zingali Award for Best Color Guard went to Blue Devils. There was a tie for the John Brazale Best Visual Performance Award, between Blue Devils and Carolina Crown. The Jim Ott Award for Best Brass Performance went to Carolina Crown and the Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance was earned by Blue Devils, who also won the Don Angelica Award for Best Overall General Effect. Congratulations to all participating drum and bugle corps. View the full recap at DCi.org.

How to Begin Drumming - Multimedia Lessons
Do you want to learn how to begin drumming? Instead of spending over $1500 on drum lessons try this new revolutionary multimedia approach. I wish techniques like these had been around when I was learning how to play snare drum. In my drumming experience I've found the best thing to do is to first learn technique and then learn how to apply that technique. It's the same with learning drumming rudiments - first learn the basic rudiments on traditional marching snare drum and then you can apply those rudiments when playing drum set. Begin Drumming teaches these best practices and more! The Begin Drumming package includes how to videos and many pages of sheet music. You can learn at your own pace. Try Begin Drumming today and maybe one day you'll be marching with the Blue Devils or jamming out on stage at a rock concert!

Honda Battle of the Bands
Eight marching bands performed in front of 60,000 fans at the Georgia Dome for Honda's Battle of the Bands (also referred to as HBOB). The Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase is the nation's largest and most highly anticipated Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) music event. Elijah Hayes of Fort Valley State University was the winner of a new 2012 Honda CR-V. For more information on the Honda Battle of the Bands program and the Invitational Showcase visit their website where you can watch a video of the drumline highlights.

Tenor Drum Sheet Music: Hey, Dick 1995
One of the most famous DCI cadences of all time is the Blue Devil's Hey, Dick from 1995. The beginning tenor part is especially catchy. Download the sheet music here. I have finally found a video of the entire drumline playing along. Check it out:

Drumline Cadence Sheet Music
One of my original compositions is a cadence and warmup I wrote for the University of Toledo drumline called "Ram Rocket." Below are the tenor and snare drum parts (written with Lime). Check out our other cadence sheet music.
And as a bonus here's a video of the University of Toledo Rocket Marching band marching over a brand new bridge (look how much it bounces)!

Marching Band Performs the Bed Intruder Song!
This is the ending to the show that the band performed at the Sprite Battle of the Bands in Charlotte, NC on August 28, 2010.
The clip features "Imma Be" by The Black Eyed Peas and of course, the "Bed Intruder Song" by Antoine Dodson and the Gregory Brothers.
Music was arranged and taught by yours truly, and I shot some of the video as well, along with Harvey Thompson, Keon Galloway, and Kevin Greene on the BGMM Media Team. More band staff credits appear in-video.
Music arrangements were written by me using Finale 2011. Video shot with various cameras, including my trusty Canon EOS 5d mkII. Edited by me using MPEG Streamclip, Final Cut Pro, and Compressor.

How to Afford Drum Corp?
As many of you probably know, drum corp and indoor drumline can be a very expensive activity to participate it. So how does one afford to do drum corp? What are some ways to make a few extra bucks to help out? Well, one thing I have done to get some extra cash is by taking online surveys, like Opinion Outpost. Let's say you only make $10 a month with this site (you can make more depending on how much time you put in). If you join ten of these sites you can easily make $1200/year. Sign up and start earning today!

DCI Schedule
I took a look at the DCI schedule today. Another disappointment for me, I may not even have the opportunity to catch a show until August! That sucks. It's been so long since I've been able to see a good drum show. What shows are you planning on attending? Who are you looking forward to seeing in action this year?
Also, is there really no show in Columbus, OH this year? WTF?!

Marching Band on Bouncing Bridge
What happens when a marching band marches in step over a newly constructed bridge? Watch to find out. It may help to look at a tree or object that is not moving and you will see the difference between the static object and the bridge.
